Free web hosting is a tempting option and denying such offer is a hard choice. But keep your website value and business before falling into it. It has many demerits that may cost you losing your online customers. Here are few common issues with free hosting:

#1. Slow loading / page speed

In general, free hosting services operate with tight constraint budget and hence, the host denies you with what they actually promise you while you get onboard. Your sites generally loads slowly as they allow too many sites on its low cost shared server. They also use low quality hardware on these servers. Some of the servers hosts up to 5000 websites and server very slowly.

#2. Too much time to resolve web hosting issues

You may be happy until you come across some hosting issue with your website. You will now look around, try calling, write emails to resolve the issue but you will not find anyone who responds to your queries on time. Now, you have no option except to wait till the issue gets resolved. Since you are on a free hosting plan, the hosting provider is not liable to server you on your request.

#3. Not disclosing limitations of web hosting plan

The intention behind offering you a free web hosting service is generally to serve you with acutely limited resources which will not hold good for you going longer. After that, you will find it difficult to stay with such limitations (restrictions on bandwidth, storage, speed, domain, DNS etc) and here comes the opportunity for the web hosting provider to ask money for these services as the premium / assured / paid services.

#4. Not adequate investment in security of hosting services

Free web hosting services do not invest enough either In terms of software or hardware to make your website secure. This makes your website / content vulnerable to attackers on the website. You may have a very strong web application but an unmanaged host can drive you where your intellectual property can be compromised and since you are using free services, no liability falls on the service provider.

#5. Excessive cost of a web hosting plan

Sometimes a good web hosting plan with appropriate assured resources costs a lot. These options sometimes deter you and you jump to take a free hosting path. Avoid this mistake as this will again lead you to an unwilling territory. The best approach is to find an economical plan which brings responsibility on the hosting provider on their promises rather than opting a free hosting.
